Patty Rowland Burke has advised technology companies, both established and emerging, across a range of industries and geographies.  Most recently her efforts have focused on developing positioning and market entry strategies and supporting plans for companies such as Innerwireless, Sana Security, Sonic Wall, LightPointe, LongBoard, NovusEdge, Ceterus, InfiniRoute, OpSource, and BlueRoads.

Patty has held VP-level positions with Silicon Valley companies for more than fifteen years, providing hands-on leadership in product marketing, sales and business development strategies; corporate positioning, messaging and branding; and outbound marketing program plans including public relations, advertising, web marketing, channel development, lead generation programs, sales training and promotions.

As the first VP Marketing at start-up Ramp Networks in 1996, she was responsible for marketing and sales strategies, creating the small business Internet router category and positioning Ramp as the leading player. She was a key participant and drove positioning strategy for Ramp's '99 IPO (Ramp was acquired by Nokia in 2001).  Previously, Burke was VP Marketing for Madge Networks, a pioneer in Token Ring technology and a leader in Ethernet switching and ATM networking equipment, repositioning the company for its '93 IPO and managing a marketing team of more than 50 worldwide.  Prior to that she was VP Marketing at Symantec, consolidating the marketing function and staff from diverse product and sales groups, including several acquired companies. With Symantec, her first position was Director of Product Marketing for the Peter Norton Product Group, where she led product marketing for the PC and Mac utilities, driving 5X growth in anti-virus product category revenue.

In the late ‘80s, Patty was Partner-in-Charge of the Networking and Telecommunications Practice at the technology marketing consulting firm, Regis McKenna Inc. (RMI), managing programs for clients including PacBell, Motorola Cellular, ROLM, Novell, 3Com and numerous start-ups.  In her early career, Patty held positions in non-profit, consumer and sports marketing working with organizations such as Chrysler Corporation, Miller Brewing Company, Radisson Hotels, the Easter Seal Society and the Texas Rangers Baseball Club.

Patty is a recognized expert in go-to-market strategies for technology companies, and is a frequent industry speaker on topics ranging from corporate positioning to marketing planning and product launch.  She works closely with the portfolio companies of venture capital firms such as Sevin Rosen Funds and El Dorado ventures. She also serves as a Marketing Mentor for the CalTech Entrepreneur Fellowship Program and is on the advisory board of several privately-held companies.
